Balinese Cats at KittyCatKat™

The Balinese is the longhaired sister of the Siamese — elegant, silky, affectionate, and deeply people-oriented. In our program, all Balinese are registered through CFF as Old Style Balinese. We do not currently produce CFA-registered Balinese.

Our Balinese share the same temperament, body structure, intelligence, and bonding behavior as our Siamese — the primary difference is the coat.

What Is a Balinese?

The Balinese originated from longhaired Siamese cats and eventually became their own recognized breed. Though often described as a “longhaired Siamese,” the Balinese has a distinctive silky semi-long coat that lies close to the body and typically resists matting.

Their plume tail, flowing coat, and graceful outline give them a soft, floating appearance while maintaining the same athletic and interactive personality the Siamese breed is known for.

How We Label Our Balinese

In our cattery, Balinese are classified and registered as:

  • CFF: Old Style Balinese
  • CFA: Not applicable (we do not currently breed CFA Balinese)

Our Balinese:

  • Are traditional / applehead style
  • Have a silky semi-long coat
  • Do not produce lynx point patterns in our program
  • May display darker chocolate shades depending on lineage

If a kitten is longhaired with a plume tail and comes from our longhair-producing lines, it is considered a Balinese.

Body Type & Coat

  • Body: Medium build, graceful and athletic
  • Head: Rounded wedge / traditional applehead lines
  • Coat: Semi-long, silky coat that lies close to the body
  • Tail: Soft plume
  • Eyes: Blue and expressive

The Balinese coat is considered lower maintenance than many longhaired breeds and generally requires minimal brushing.

  • Red & Cream
  • Tortie Points

Personality & Temperament

Balinese cats share the same social, intelligent nature as Siamese, though many people describe their personalities as slightly softer in expression while still being highly interactive.

Typical traits include:

  • Affectionate and engaging
  • Very intelligent
  • Talkative, often with a softer voice
  • Playful and athletic
  • Strongly bonded to their families

They thrive in homes where they can be part of daily life — on laps, desks, countertops, or curled beside their people.

Health & Program Goals

Our Balinese receive the same level of care and attention as our Siamese.

  • FeLV/FIV-negative adult cats
  • Breeder-administered kitten vaccines according to manufacturer recommendations
  • Careful pedigree tracking and selective breeding practices
